EZF-Advance
: EZFA
The EZF-Advance is a USB powered linker kit
used to connect your GBA or GBA-SP to your PC, offering many
new features such as built-in RTC (Realtime Clock) and true
hardware save support. Featuring one of the fastest data transfer
rates on market, only 42 seconds needed for reading or writing
a 64mbit file. EZFA Linker lets you play small games, demos or
applications not greater than 2M directly via. cable, no cart
needed, an ideal solution for game developers, emulation fans
and ebook applications (a perfect replacement for the GBA Multi
Boot Cable - MBV cable). Faster high density flash chips are
mounted in the re-writable cart, ensuring reliable performance
- no speed patches required.
The EZF-Advance USB Linker Kit - 128mbit contains the USB linker
cable, a 128mbit Flash Cart and a mini CD containing software
and drivers.
The EZ-F Advance is one of the most popular gba flash carts
on the market at the moment. In an awesome coat of ruby red,
this cart not only looks good, but also performs very well. Its
well earned popularity is mostly because of its easiness, its
reliability, and its low price.
The EZFA has a real-time clock (RTC) in it - Borden was the first
one to add a RTC to a GBA flash cart. The EZFA's power consummation is average,
lasting around 5-6 hours on a GBA SP with backlight on. The cart also has many
hardware saves worked in, such as EEPROM V_1.24, meaning you'll hardly have to
patch games to make them save correctly.
The cart's inner save battery is a rechargeable one, but instead of charging
it through USB, you just have to use run it with your GBA. Confused? Inside every
GBA game cartridge is a battery (even official Nintendo ones). This is what keeps
your Save Games, and it's always running. On carts such as the XG1, EZ1 and EZ2,
you have to recharge the battery through a USB port. On the EZF Advance, the
inner battery recharges itself while you are playing GBA roms. So basically,
if you make sure to play at least once every 3 weeks ;) you won't ever
have to worry about your saves leaving you again. Backing up to a computer everyone
now and then is still recommended though, just in case.
The only thing that may turn some peoples off with this cartridge is the lack
of features in the software. The EZFA software is designed to efficiently and
rapidly get GBA roms - games from your computer onto your flash card, with no
hassles. Though it does have a cheat function, you won't find any other gimmicks
here, if that's what you are looking for. That means no boot loader folders,
icons, backgrounds, etc... However, the software is very stable and it's blazing
fast.
The EZFA is a GBA gamer's cart. The hardware has all of the standard features
and the software is quick and stable. No integrated applications and emulators,
no background and folders, but made for easy GBA gaming. Keep in mind that if
applications and emulators are what you want, you can always load them onto your
cart by compiling them first, but they are not integrated into the software.
The EZFA is highly recommended and truly is an "easy" flash cartridge.
